A Legal Disclaimer
The information provided here is for general purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Privacy practices may vary depending on your location and activities. Please consult legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Pet Care Marketplace Platform Effective Date: August 1, 2025 | Last Updated: July 11, 2026.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how Butters, Inc. (“Butters,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects personal information in connection with the Butters websites, mobile applications, and related online services (collectively, the “Platform”). This Privacy Policy supplements and is incorporated by reference into the Butters Terms of Service.
Butters operates the Platform as an online marketplace that connects pet owners (“Customers”) with independent pet care service providers (“Providers”). This Privacy Policy applies to personal information collected from Customers, Providers, and other visitors to the Platform. Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of this Privacy Policy, please do not access or use the Platform.
California residents have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, the “CCPA/CPRA”). Those rights are described in detail in Section 15.
2. Scope and Application
This Privacy Policy applies to personal information that Butters collects, receives, or processes in connection with the Platform, including through:
-
The Butters website at buttersandtails.com and any subdomains.
-
The Butters mobile applications for iOS and Android devices.
-
Communications between you and Butters, including email, telephone, text message, and in-app messaging.
-
Booking transactions arranged through the Platform.
-
User-generated content, community features (Lumi), and other Platform interactions.
This Privacy Policy does not apply to (a) information collected by third parties through their own products, services, or websites, even if those products, services, or websites are linked from the Platform; (b) information you provide directly to a Provider outside of the Platform; or (c) information collected by your wireless carrier, internet service provider, device manufacturer, or operating system provider in connection with your use of those services.
As of the Effective Date, the Platform is offered exclusively to Users located in the State of California. This Privacy Policy reflects practices appropriate to a California-focused service. When the Platform expands into additional jurisdictions, this Privacy Policy may be supplemented or modified to address the laws of those jurisdictions.
3. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in three primary ways: (a) information you provide directly to us, (b) information we collect automatically when you use the Platform, and (c) information we receive from third parties.
3.1 Information You Provide to Us
Account Registration Information
When you create an Account, you provide your name, email address, mobile telephone number, date of birth, residential address (city and ZIP at minimum, and full address for Customers when needed for in-home services), profile photo, and password. You also confirm your acceptance of the Terms of Service and this Privacy Policy.
Pet Profile Information
Customers create Pet Profiles describing their pets. Pet Profile information typically includes the pet’s name, species, breed, age, weight, sex, sterilization status, vaccination history, medical conditions, current medications, behavioral history (including any history of biting, aggression, escape, anxiety, or other behaviors), special care requirements, and photos. Pet Profile information is used by Providers to evaluate Booking requests and to provide care.
Provider Profile Information
Providers create Provider Profiles describing the pet care services they offer. Provider Profile information typically includes the Provider’s legal name and any business name, photos, biography and tagline, service categories offered, pricing, service area (location, radius, and ZIP), home environment description, emergency protocols, capacity, availability, blocked dates, cancellation policy selection, skills and certifications, and species and sizes of animals accepted.
Identity Verification Information
Providers (and, where required, Customers) submit information for identity verification through our third-party identity verification provider, Veriff. This may include a photograph of a government-issued identification document (such as a driver’s license, passport, or state ID), a short video or still image of the User’s face, and information extracted from the identification document. Veriff uses facial recognition technology to confirm that the User is the person depicted on the identification document. See Section 4 (Sensitive Personal Information) for additional disclosures regarding biometric data.
Background Screening Information
Providers authorize Butters and our third-party consumer reporting agency, Checkr, Inc., to conduct background screening as a condition of becoming a Provider. Background screening may include criminal history, sex offender registry checks, identity verification, and other lawful screening permitted under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act and the California Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act. Providers receive separate FCRA and ICRAA disclosures and provide separate written authorization prior to the screening.
Payment Information
Payment processing on the Platform is handled by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”). When a Customer adds a payment method or a Provider connects a payout account, Stripe collects and stores the payment card or bank account information directly. Butters does not directly collect or store full payment card numbers, expiration dates, or CVV codes. We receive limited information from Stripe sufficient to process transactions and to provide Platform functions, including the last four digits of payment instruments, payment method type, transaction status, and Stripe-issued tokens or identifiers.
Booking and Communication Information
When you create or participate in a Booking, we collect information about the Booking, including the parties involved, the requested services, dates and times, location or address (which may include precise geolocation, see Section 4), special requests, quoted price, payment status, cancellation snapshots, and chat messages between the Customer and Provider in connection with the Booking.
Community Content (Lumi)
When you participate in the Platform’s Lumi community features, we collect the posts, comments, photos, videos, likes, dislikes, bookmarks, views, follows, SOS posts, and other content you create or interact with. Some Lumi content (for example, public posts) is visible to other Users.
Communications with Butters
When you contact us by email, telephone, text message, or in-app support, we collect the contents of the communication, the date and time, and any attachments you provide.
Reports and Moderation Information
If you submit a report regarding another User or content on the Platform, we collect the contents of the report, including the target of the report, the reason for the report, and any supporting information you provide. We also collect information about moderation actions taken in response to reports.
Customer Service and Survey Responses
We may collect information you provide in response to surveys, customer service inquiries, product research, or other interactions with us.
3.2 Information We Collect Automatically
Device Information
When you access the Platform from a device, we automatically collect information about the device, including device model, operating system, operating system version, unique device identifiers, mobile network information, browser type, browser version, and other technical characteristics.
Usage Information
We collect information about how you use the Platform, including pages and screens accessed, features used, actions taken, time spent on the Platform, click and tap events, search queries, scroll behavior, and timestamps. This information is used to operate, secure, debug, and improve the Platform.
Location Information
We collect location information at varying levels of precision, depending on the context and the permissions you grant to the Platform. Less precise location information (such as ZIP code or city derived from your IP address) is used for general operations. Precise location information (such as GPS coordinates) is used when necessary for specific Platform functions, including Provider service-area matching, Customer-Provider proximity matching, and arranging in-person services. Precise geolocation is considered sensitive personal information under California law; see Section 4 for additional disclosures.
Push Notifications and Device Tokens
If you enable push notifications, we collect push notification tokens issued by your device’s operating system (typically through Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging) so that we can deliver notifications. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device’s settings.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar tracking technologies. See Section 8 (Cookies, Tracking, and Similar Technologies) for more information.
3.3 Information We Receive from Third Parties
Identity Verification Providers
We receive verification results from Veriff, including whether the identity verification succeeded or failed, the verification methods used, and any flagged issues. We do not directly receive or store the raw biometric data or facial recognition templates created by Veriff; Veriff processes and stores those materials in accordance with its own privacy practices.
Consumer Reporting Agencies
We receive consumer reports from Checkr regarding Providers (and only after the Provider has authorized the report). Reports may include criminal records, sex offender registry results, identity verification information, and other screening results within the scope of the Provider’s authorization. We use these reports solely for determining Provider eligibility and for ongoing platform safety purposes.
Payment Processor
We receive transaction information from Stripe, including transaction amounts, dates, statuses, refund and dispute information, payout information, account onboarding status for Providers, and limited identifying information sufficient for Platform operations.
Other Service Providers
We may receive information from our other service providers (such as analytics providers, fraud detection providers, and cloud infrastructure providers) in connection with their services to us. See Section 7 for a list of our service providers.
Other Users
We may receive information about you from other Users, including in the context of Bookings (for example, a Provider may receive information about a Customer’s pet), reviews, ratings, reports, referrals, and similar interactions.
Publicly Available Sources
We may collect information from publicly available sources to verify Provider qualifications, to detect fraud, or for similar lawful purposes.
4. Sensitive Personal Information
Some of the information we collect is considered “sensitive personal information” under the CCPA/CPRA. We collect and process sensitive personal information only as necessary to provide the Platform, to perform services requested by Users, and for the additional limited purposes permitted by Section 1798.121 of the California Civil Code (such as detecting security incidents, resisting deceptive or fraudulent actions, ensuring the integrity of the Platform, and complying with our legal obligations).
4.1 Sensitive Personal Information We Collect
-
Precise geolocation. GPS coordinates or other precise location information used to enable in-person services, Provider matching, geographic Booking validation, and similar functions.
-
Biometric information (through Veriff). Facial geometry data derived from selfie photos and government-issued ID photos, used by Veriff to verify identity. Veriff is the controller of this biometric data; we receive only the verification result and do not directly store facial geometry templates.
-
Government identification numbers (through Checkr and Veriff). Information from driver’s licenses, state IDs, passports, and other government identification submitted for identity verification or background screening.
-
Account credentials. Username and password combinations.
-
Financial account information (through Stripe). Bank account and payment card information collected and stored by Stripe; we do not directly store full payment card or bank account numbers.
We do not knowingly collect information about race or ethnic origin, religious or philosophical beliefs, union membership, genetic data, health information beyond that which a Customer voluntarily provides about a pet, sex life or sexual orientation, or other categories of sensitive personal information beyond those listed above.
4.2 Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
California residents have the right under the CCPA/CPRA to limit our use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to certain permitted purposes. Because we already limit our use of sensitive personal information to those permitted purposes, the right to limit does not change our practices. Nevertheless, if you wish to submit a request to limit, you may do so through the methods described in Section 15.
5. How We Use Personal Information
We use personal information for the following business and commercial purposes:
5.1 Operating the Platform
We use personal information to operate, maintain, and provide the features and functionality of the Platform, including creating and authenticating Accounts, displaying Provider Profiles and Pet Profiles, processing search and discovery queries, facilitating Bookings, processing payments through Stripe, releasing payouts to Providers, enabling Customer-Provider communications, providing community features through Lumi, delivering notifications, and processing reports and moderation actions.
5.2 Identity Verification and Background Screening
We use personal information to verify identities, conduct background screening on Providers, and determine eligibility to use the Platform.
5.3 Safety, Trust, and Fraud Prevention
We use personal information to detect, investigate, and prevent fraudulent, harmful, unauthorized, or illegal activity; to enforce our Terms of Service and other policies; to monitor for safety incidents and to respond to them; to support content moderation; and to protect the rights, property, and safety of Butters, our Users, and others.
5.4 Customer Service and Support
We use personal information to respond to your inquiries, to provide customer support, to resolve disputes, to handle complaints, and to communicate with you about your Account or your use of the Platform.
5.5 Transactional Communications
We use personal information to send you transactional communications related to your use of the Platform, including Booking confirmations, payment receipts, cancellation notices, security alerts, policy updates, and operational notifications.
5.6 Marketing Communications (With Your Consent)
Where you have provided the required consent or where otherwise permitted by law, we use personal information to send you marketing communications, including newsletters, promotions, and information about new features. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time as described in Section 9.
5.7 AI-Assisted Features
We use personal information to operate AI-assisted Platform features, including provider matching and recommendations, content moderation assistance, AI-generated report summaries, search ranking, and conversational summaries. We may share information with third-party AI service providers (such as Google’s Gemini service) for these purposes, subject to appropriate contractual restrictions.
5.8 Analytics and Platform Improvement
We use personal information to understand how the Platform is used, to measure the effectiveness of features and communications, to perform research and analysis, to develop new features and services, and to improve the quality, reliability, and security of the Platform.
5.9 Legal Compliance and Enforcement
We use personal information to comply with our legal obligations, including tax reporting (through Stripe), responding to lawful requests from government authorities, complying with court orders and subpoenas, and exercising or defending legal rights.
5.10 Business Transactions
We may use personal information in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other business transaction, subject to the protections described in Section 6.5.
6. How We Share Personal Information
We share personal information in the following circumstances:
6.1 With Other Users
The Platform is a marketplace, and certain personal information is necessarily shared between Customers and Providers to facilitate Bookings and communications:
-
A Customer’s Account name, profile photo, neighborhood or general location, Pet Profile information, and Booking details are shared with the Provider with whom the Customer is engaged in a Booking or Booking request.
-
A Provider’s name, profile photo, biography, service descriptions, pricing, reviews, ratings, service area, and other Provider Profile information are visible to Customers.

-
Reviews, ratings, and Lumi community content are visible to other Users to the extent set by the posting User’s settings and Platform defaults.
6.2 With Our Service Providers
We share personal information with third-party service providers who perform functions on our behalf. Our service providers are contractually required to use personal information only as necessary to perform the functions we have engaged them to perform, and to provide appropriate security and confidentiality protections. Our current service providers include the categories of third parties described in Section 7.
6.3 For Legal Compliance and Safety
We may share personal information with law enforcement, government authorities, regulators, courts, and other third parties where we believe in good faith that doing so is necessary or appropriate to: (a) comply with applicable law, court orders, subpoenas, or other legal process; (b) protect the safety, rights, or property of Butters, our Users, or others; (c) detect, investigate, or prevent fraud, abuse, or illegal activity; (d) enforce our Terms of Service or other policies; or (e) respond to emergencies involving risk to human or animal safety.
6.4 With Your Consent or At Your Direction
We may share personal information with third parties when you direct us to do so or when you consent to the sharing. For example, if you authorize us to integrate with a third-party service or to share your information with a partner.
6.5 In Connection With Business Transactions
We may share personal information with potential or actual buyers, investors, financing sources, advisors, and similar parties in connection with due diligence for and the consummation of a merger, acquisition, financing, sale of assets, reorganization, bankruptcy, or other business transaction. If Butters is acquired or the business is transferred in whole or in part, personal information may be transferred as a business asset. We will require any acquirer or successor to honor the commitments in this Privacy Policy with respect to personal information transferred to them, or to provide notice of any material changes consistent with applicable law.
6.6 Aggregated and De-Identified Information
We may share aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information that does not reasonably identify an individual for any purpose. For example, we may share aggregated statistics about Platform usage, Booking volumes, or Provider availability for research, business development, or marketing purposes.
7. Categories of Third-Party Service Providers
We use third-party service providers to operate the Platform. 8. Sale or Sharing of Personal Information
Under the CCPA/CPRA, “sale” and “share” have specific meanings. “Sale” generally means selling, renting, releasing, disclosing, disseminating, making available, transferring, or otherwise communicating personal information to a third party for monetary or other valuable consideration. “Share” specifically refers to sharing personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, with or without consideration.
8.1 Butters Does Not Sell Personal Information
Butters does not sell personal information for monetary consideration. We do not rent or trade personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes.
8.2 Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising
Butters does not currently engage in cross-context behavioral advertising and does not currently “share” personal information for such purposes within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA. If this changes, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide California residents with the right to opt out, including by implementing a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
8.3 No Ads Within the Platform
The Platform does not display third-party advertising. Butters does not allow advertisers to pay for placement or promotion within the Platform.
8.4 Global Privacy Control
Butters honors the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information, if and when Butters begins selling or sharing personal information within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA. As Butters does not currently sell or share personal information, no opt-out action is necessary.
9. Cookies, Tracking, and Similar Technologies
Our website uses cookies, web beacons, pixels, software development kits (SDKs), and similar tracking technologies (collectively, “Tracking Technologies”) to operate the Platform, to provide functionality, to analyze usage, and to deliver customer experiences. Tracking Technologies are also used in our mobile applications, where appropriate, to support similar purposes.
9.1 Categories of Tracking Technologies
-
Strictly necessary technologies that enable core Platform functions such as authentication, session management, and security. These cannot be disabled while continuing to use the Platform.
-
Performance and analytics technologies that help us understand how the Platform is used, including which features are popular and where Users encounter difficulties.
-
Functional technologies that remember your preferences and customize your experience.
9.2 Your Choices
Most web browsers allow you to control cookies through the browser’s settings. You may set your browser to refuse cookies, to delete existing cookies, or to alert you when cookies are being placed. Note that disabling certain cookies may affect your ability to use the Platform. Mobile operating systems provide similar controls for SDKs and mobile tracking identifiers.
9.3 Do Not Track Signals
Some browsers transmit “Do Not Track” (DNT) signals. There is currently no industry or legal standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and Butters does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do honor the Global Privacy Control as described in Section 8.4.
10. Marketing and Other Communications
10.1 Transactional Communications
We send transactional communications related to your Account and your use of the Platform, including Booking confirmations, payment receipts, cancellation notices, security alerts, and other operational communications. These are necessary for the provision of the Platform and cannot be opted out of while you maintain an Account.
10.2 Marketing Communications
We send marketing communications only to Users who have opted in to receive them. You can opt out of marketing emails at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by updating your Account settings. You can opt out of marketing text messages by replying STOP to any marketing message or by updating your Account settings. Opt-out from marketing does not affect your receipt of transactional communications.
10.3 Push Notifications
You can control push notifications through your device’s settings. Disabling push notifications may limit certain Platform functionality.
11. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to provide the Platform, to comply with our legal and regulatory obligations, to resolve disputes, to enforce our agreements, and to fulfill the other purposes described in this Privacy Policy. The specific retention period for any given category of information depends on the nature of the information and the purposes for which it is processed. As a general matter:
-
Account information is retained while your Account is active, and for a reasonable period after Account deletion as needed to satisfy operational, legal, and dispute-resolution needs.
-
Pet Profile information is retained for the active period of the Pet Profile and for a reasonable period thereafter, subject to deletion requests under Section 15.
-
Booking, payment, and refund records are retained for the period required by tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution obligations, typically at least seven (7) years from the date of the transaction.
-
Background screening records are retained for the period required by FCRA and applicable state law, typically at least two (2) years from the date of the most recent adverse action.
-
Identity verification records are retained for the period necessary to demonstrate verification and to detect fraud, typically aligned with the active Account and a reasonable period thereafter.
-
Communications and chat messages are retained for the active Booking and a reasonable period thereafter to support dispute resolution and safety review.

-
Reports and moderation records are retained for the period necessary to detect repeat violations and to support enforcement and appeals processes.
-
Information subject to a legal hold, active investigation, regulatory inquiry, or pending legal claim is retained until the matter is resolved.
Even after the active retention period, residual copies of personal information may remain in our backup systems for a limited additional period. We delete or anonymize personal information when it is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected.
12. Data Security
We implement and maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These safeguards include access controls, encryption of data in transit using industry-standard protocols, encryption of certain data at rest, network security measures, secure software development practices, employee training and confidentiality obligations, and oversight of third-party service providers.
No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is one hundred percent secure. While we strive to use commercially reasonable measures to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. You are responsible for safeguarding your Account credentials and for promptly notifying us of any suspected unauthorized access to or use of your Account.
In the event of a personal information breach that triggers notification obligations under applicable law, we will provide notice to affected individuals and to relevant authorities as required by law.
13. Children’s Privacy
The Platform is intended for use only by individuals who are at least eighteen (18) years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of thirteen (13), and we do not knowingly market to or collect personal information from minors under the age of eighteen (18). If you are a parent or legal guardian and believe that we have collected personal information from your child, please contact us as described in Section 17 and we will take appropriate steps to delete the information from our systems.
14. Third-Party Links and Services
The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services that are not operated by Butters. This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party websites, applications, or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of any third party. We encourage you to read the privacy policies of any third-party services you use.
Certain features of the Platform are powered by third-party services, including Stripe (payments), Veriff (identity verification), Checkr (background screening), Supabase (chat), Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging (notifications), and Google Gemini (AI). Each of these third-party services has its own privacy practices governing the information it processes on its own behalf. Where these services act as our service providers and process personal information on our behalf, our contracts with them restrict their use of that personal information to the purposes for which we engaged them.
15. California Consumer Privacy Rights
This Section 15 provides additional information about how we handle personal information of California residents and the rights California residents have under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (collectively, the “CCPA/CPRA”). Capitalized terms used in this Section that are not otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy have the meanings given to them in the CCPA/CPRA.
15.1 Categories of Personal Information Collected
In the twelve (12) months preceding the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy, we have collected the following statutory categories of personal information about California residents:
Identifiers — Name, email, phone, address, date of birth, account credentials, unique device identifiers, IP address, government identification numbers (through Veriff and Checkr).
Personal information categories listed in Cal. Civ. Code § 1798.80(e) — Name, address, telephone, payment information (through Stripe), and similar information; some of these overlap with identifiers above.
Characteristics of protected classifications — Age (collected only for eligibility verification). We do not knowingly collect information about race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, medical condition, or other protected characteristics about Users.
Commercial information — Records of Bookings, payments, refunds, and other transactions; products and services purchased or considered.
Biometric information — Facial geometry data processed by Veriff for identity verification; we do not directly store biometric templates.
Internet or other electronic network activity information — Browsing and usage history within the Platform, search queries, interactions with content and features, and similar information.
Geolocation data — Precise geolocation (with permission) and approximate location derived from IP address and other signals.
Audio, electronic, visual, or similar information — Photos and videos you upload (including pet photos, profile photos, and ID verification images).
Professional or employment-related information — For Providers: information about pet care experience, qualifications, services offered, and business operations.
Inferences — Inferences drawn from the above to create profiles reflecting User preferences, characteristics, and predispositions (for example, recommended Providers, pet match suggestions).
Sensitive personal information — Account credentials, precise geolocation, biometric information (through Veriff), and government identification numbers, as further described in Section 4.
15.2 Sources of Personal Information
We collect personal information from the sources described in Section 3 of this Privacy Policy: (a) directly from Users, (b) automatically through Users’ interactions with the Platform, and (c) from third parties including service providers, other Users, and publicly available sources.
15.3 Business or Commercial Purposes for Collection
We use personal information for the business and commercial purposes described in Section 5 of this Privacy Policy.
15.4 Categories of Recipients
We disclose personal information to the categories of recipients described in Section 6 (other Users, service providers, legal/safety, etc.) and Section 7 (service providers by category).
15.5 No Sale or Share for Cross-Context Behavioral Advertising
As described in Section 8, we do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, and we do not currently share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA. We have not engaged in any “sale” or “share” of personal information in the twelve (12) months preceding the Effective Date of this Privacy Policy.
15.6 Your California Privacy Rights
California residents have the following rights, subject to applicable exceptions:
Right to Know
You have the right to request that we disclose what personal information we have collected, used, disclosed, and (if applicable) sold or shared about you. You may request a categorical disclosure (the categories of information, sources, purposes, and recipients) or a specific-pieces disclosure (the specific personal information we have collected about you). Specific-pieces disclosures may be limited to the twelve (12) months preceding the request, except where a longer period is provided by law and the request specifically seeks information from that longer period.
Right to Delete
You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to exceptions including: completion of the transaction for which the information was collected; providing a service requested by you; detecting security incidents; protecting against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity; debugging to identify and repair errors; exercising free speech rights or another right provided for by law; compliance with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act; engaging in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical, or statistical research in the public interest; enabling solely internal uses reasonably aligned with your expectations based on your relationship with us; and complying with a legal obligation.
Right to Correct
You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you. We will use commercially reasonable efforts to correct the information, and we may require you to provide documentation supporting the correction request.
Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information
You have the right to request that we limit our use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to certain purposes permitted by the CCPA/CPRA. Because we already limit our use of sensitive personal information to those permitted purposes, this right does not require us to change our practices, but we will honor requests to limit submitted through the methods described below.
Right to Opt Out of Sale or Sharing
You have the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. As described in Section 8, we do not currently sell or share personal information within the meaning of the CCPA/CPRA. If this changes, we will provide an easily accessible opt-out method, including a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
Right to Non-Discrimination
You have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising your CCPA/CPRA rights. We will not deny you goods or services, charge you different prices, provide you a different level or quality of service, or take other adverse action against you solely because you exercised your rights.
15.7 How to Submit a Request
You may submit a verifiable consumer request to exercise your CCPA/CPRA rights by:
-
Email: Sending a request to [privacy@buttersandtails.com or equivalent To Be Confirmed], including the words “California Privacy Request” in the subject line.
-
Mail: Sending a written request to the address set forth in Section 17.
-
In-App: Using the privacy request tools in your Account settings (where available).
We will respond to verifiable consumer requests within forty-five (45) days, with the possibility of a forty-five (45) day extension where reasonably necessary. We will notify you of any extension.
15.8 Verification of Requests
To protect personal information from unauthorized access or deletion, we must verify the identity of the person making a CCPA/CPRA request. The verification process depends on the nature of the request and the sensitivity of the information involved. We may ask you to provide information that matches information we already have about you, to confirm an email or text message we send, or to provide additional information sufficient to verify your identity at a level consistent with the CCPA/CPRA implementing regulations.
15.9 Authorized Agents
You may designate an authorized agent to submit CCPA/CPRA requests on your behalf. The authorized agent must provide signed written permission, and we may require you to verify your own identity directly with us before honoring a request submitted by an agent, except as otherwise required by law.
15.10 Other California Rights
California residents who have an established business relationship with Butters may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes, under California Civil Code Section 1798.83 (“Shine the Light”). As described in this Privacy Policy, Butters does not currently share personal information with third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make a material change, we will provide notice through the Platform, by email, or by other reasonable means.
